NSGO is proud to announce the NSGO Gynaecological Cancer Research Grant 2026.
We encourage all researchers to submit their applications, especially those involving Nordic collaborations.
Purpose
The purpose of the NSGO – Gynaecological Cancer Research Grant is to provide financial support to early-career researchers within gynaecological oncology to establish innovative oncological, surgical, translational, and supportive care research projects and trials.
Aim
The aim of the NSGO – Gynaecological Cancer Research Grant is to:
- Strengthen clinical and preclinical collaborative research within the Nordic countries on gynaecological oncology
- Support investigator-initiated trials
Eligibility
Preclinical, translational and clinical research projects will be considered. There must be a focus on gynaecological oncology, and specifically on biology, predisposition, predictive and/or prognostic factors and/or treatment strategies for gynecologic cancers including e.g. ovarian, endometrial, cervical, vulvar cancer or trophoblastic diseases. Projects with full industry funding are not eligible.
The main applicant must be an early career NSGO member and anchored at a Nordic University and/or Nordic University hospital, without professor or equivalent position.
Only one application per applicant as the main applicant will be considered per application round.

Additional co-applicants can be anchored at other non-profit research institutions, universities, or hospitals within or beyond the Nordic region.
Funding
The amount of funding provided for each project will be determined during the review process depending on the number of applicants and grading. The provided funding will not exceed €20,000 per project.

The NSGO grant review committee will evaluate and discuss the proposed projects and select those to be funded based on the evaluation criteria. The winners will be announced at the NSGO Annual Meeting.
Evaluation criteria
- The projects will be evaluated based on novelty, impact, feasibility, and applicants track record.
- Projects without industry sponsoring will be prioritized higher than projects with partly industry sponsoring.
- Projects with Nordic collaboration with active participation from at least two Nordic countries will be prioritized higher than projects without Nordic collaboration. This could be accomplished by sharing clinical data sets, biopsy samples, or infrastructure, or by other means.
NSGO Grant Review Committee
The NSGO Grant Review Committee is a Nordic peer review panel.
The principal task of the NSGO Grant Review Committee is to perform a professional peer review evaluation of applications for the NSGO – Gynaecological Cancer Research Grant.
The NSGO Grant Review Committee consists of seven active researchers and clinicians at Nordic research institutions. The committee aims to be well-balanced in terms of the members’ research fields (e.g., translational research, databases, surgery, systemic treatment, radiotherapy, and patient-reported outcomes).
The NSGO Grant Review Committee has three predefined members: the current NSGO president and president-elect, and the past president of the NSGO. The other four members are appointed for two years by the NSGO Board. They should represent the four Nordic countries (Norway, Sweden, Finland, and Denmark), and must be a with high academic competence within the field of gynaecology or oncology.
